I like him in the studio but not in the booth! His voice just doesn`t go with play by play. I find myself muting the TV when something happens just so I don`t have to listen to his voice.

He should stick to football. ESPN is probably just running out of personnel, when the NLCS/ALCS rolls around, he'll (hopefully) be gone. -

When the NLCS/ALCS goes on, ESPN doesnt broadcast any games anyway.....so we wont have to worry about it.Comment

I think its that Berman has no clue what he's talking about when it comes to baseball which prevents him from giving a smooth play by play. Usually he doesn't even give a play by play unless its a hard hit ball. He also has very little to add in between plays. There were stretches of tonights game where Sutcliffe and Piazza were the only ones talking.Comment

Anyone else think Piazza is doing a pretty good job commentary wise?
He's said a few things each game that were interesting/insightful to the moment at hand.

Yeah and if it was up to me, Al Leiter or Mike Piazza would be replacing McCarver. Seriously, I look forward to Leiter doing games in the booth. He really makes Lyons just look like the so-called colorful moron he is.Originally posted by Thrasha

I was thinking the same thing about Piazza as I was watching the game. He makes good points, speaks well, and just has a good feel on how to do commentary. After he retires he definatly should think about doing some work in the booth.Originally posted by ThrashaComment

Did anyone see when Berman and Sutcliffe were teasing him for some of his expressions? Something was said about thinking this stuff up when hes playing. I didnt think he said anything that wasnt illustrative by its description. They were seriously teasing him when they should have been taking notes or unlearning what they think they already know.Comment
